I should probably quit trusting my brother. You may remember that last year, he lied, “It’s not that far” as we trekked through NYC. This year, he claimed that hiking Mt. Monadnock is easy. In actuality, it is a “steep scramble” up a difficult trail.
Yet, I am quick to forgive him. He had never hiked the mountain himself; he only knew that if you’re in New Hampshire, you should climb the second most-hiked mountain in the world.
So, being the gullible sister that I am, I crawled up the sheer rock. We agreed that the breathtaking views were worth the struggle. After we slid back down the cliffs, we made an executive decision: when you are in Vermont, you have to eat Ben and Jerry’s.
