Strawberry S’mores Snack Mix

How do you eat your cereal?  (and don’t pretend that there is only one way to eat cereal because I can name at least three)

Growing up, I always ate cereal dry, picking up one piece at a time with my fingers.  It wasn’t until college, when Honey Nut Cheerios became my go-to cafeteria dinner, that I learned to put milk in the cereal bowl and eat it with a spoon.

Sometimes when I am in a rush, I will put cereal in a jar with milk, and drink it.  It’s not ideal, but it’s the best way to eat cereal while driving.

I believe that cereal can be eaten any way you want and any time you want (breakfast, lunch, dinner, midnight…).  This Strawberry S’mores Snack Mix is essentially cereal turned into dessert.  You can eat it dry with your fingers or with milk on a spoon.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups graham cereal (I used this one, but Golden Grahams would also be great)  OR mini graham crackers (such as Teddy Grahams)
  • 3 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup freeze-dried strawberries

Directions

  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Eat and enjoy!

  1. I’m not much of a cereal eater but I love the idea of this snack mix! I think most cereal is just too sweet for me, so it fits right in with the idea dessert. Freeze dried strawberries are inspired in this!!

  2. Other than oatmeal, I don’t eat cereal often… but I went to college with a woman who put orange juice instead of milk on her cereal! At any rate, thank you for being the first to share at Fiesta Friday this week!
