Top Ten Tuesday

So far, this series has been a little heavy, but today, we are going to lighten it up!  Put a smile on your face because I have 10 verses about being joyful!

Ten Verses For When You Feel Joyful

Whenever I think about joy, I envision Pine Cove counselors, jumping in the Texas heat and chanting, “The joy of the Lord is our strength!  The joy of the Lord is our strength!”

1. Nehemiah 8:10b

Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

But joy is more than a motto.  Joy is an attitude of pleasure that is produced by the work of the Holy Spirit in the Christian’s life.

2. Galatians 5:22-23

 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Joy leads us to praise God despite our circumstances.

3. Psalm 95:1

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
    let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!

4. Psalm 28:7

The Lord is my strength and my shield;
    in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
    and with my song I give thanks to him.

5. Psalm 65:8

Those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs.
You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy.

I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
    I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

This is the day that the Lord has made;
    let us rejoice and be glad in it.

    rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
    enlightening the eyes

Joy is the positive trait that heals our hearts when we are wounded in the battles of dreary earth.

10. Proverbs 17:22

A joyful heart is good medicine,
    but a crushed spirit dries up the bones
