On Saturdays, I share three simple things that brought me happiness during the week. These posts may grow or change as time passes. Please feel free to share your own simple joys in the comments section!
Sorry that I’m posting later today than normal. I could make excuses, but they are the same excuses we all make when we are late 🙂
1. Laughing uncontrollably with college friends.
Last Saturday, I attended the wedding of two college friends. At the reception, I sat between two girls who lived on my hall when I was an RA. I am sure that anyone sitting across the room from us was annoyed by our obnoxious laughter and my weird expressions, but we had fun.
Since I didn’t take any pictures, here is a photo of the beautiful bride.
2. The all-request lunch hour
Yesterday, I only worked until noon. I knew that I had a lot of commitments in the next few weeks, and I had PTO, so I asked to leave early. Every weekday at noon, the local Christian radio station hosts “the all-request lunch hour.” Yesterday, I heard old favorites like “Sneaking into Heaven” by Chris Rice and “I Surrender All” by Clay Crosse.
I also heard a song about rain (which was appropriate because the sky was pouring yesterday), but I can’t remember the name of the song! I was familiar enough with the song to sing along, and now the song has escaped me. If you know what it might have been, please let me know in the comments. I know that it was not:
- “Rain on My Parade” by Kathy Troccoli
- “Let it Rain” by Michael W. Smith
- “Rain Down” by Delirious?
- “Flood” by Jars of Clay
- “The End” by Matthew West
- “Stand in the Rain” by Superchick
- “Jesus Bring the Rain” by Mercy Me
It was definitely a Christian song. Any suggestions?
3. Store Credit
I’ve been on the hunt for black ankle boots, so I swung by a secondhand shop on the way home yesterday. After applying my store credit, these boots were only $2.25!
What are your simple joys this week?
