Simple Joy Saturday #60

Simple Joy Saturday #60

In 2019, I am posting a roundup of “simple joys” on the last Saturday of every month. Feel free to share your own simple joys in the comments!

I saw this post on Instagram, and I think that it summarizes my month pretty well:

Despite the cold weather, the 35 deadlines, the panic, and the darkness, November brought joy.  Here’s why:

If you don’t have cold weather, then you can’t appreciate the beauty of a frozen fountain.

November 13. Hate (I hate cold weather, but I love this pretty frozen fountain.

If you don’t have 35 deadlines, then you can’t experience the joy of marking things off your to-do list.

November 19. Order (There is something calming about a well-ordered to-do list).

If you don’t occasionally panic, then you can’t enjoy the peace and calm of an early-morning run.

If you don’t have darkness, you can’t eat s’mores around a bonfire.

And there were other enjoyable things this month, unrelated to the cold weather, the 35 deadlines, the panic, and the darkness.

I spent a few days in Pennsylvania at the beginning of the month.  Just look at this view!

My favorite librarian-professor-friend recommended Ban This Book, and now I will recommend it to you.

November 6. Story (My favorite librarian loaned this book to me today. I can already tell that I am going to like it.)

I also enjoyed playing Scrabble with Mom during Thanksgiving week (I won).

November 27. Thankful (I’m thankful for evenings with my family, especially when I get to play Scrabble with Mom)

Overall, November did bring cold weather, 35 deadlines, panic, and darkness, but it was still a pretty good month!  🙂
