How to Celebrate Your Birthday for a Full Week

How to Celebrate Your Birthday for a Full Week

I don’t know about you, but

I’m feeling 22!!

I know, I know.  I am so lame, but I have been waiting like 3 years to say that I am feeling 22.

Anyway, let’s move on to today’s post.

Look at the above picture of Taylor.  Doesn’t she look disappointed at the measly 3 cupcakes that she has?  I mean, sure, she is only one person, but doesn’t she deserve lots of cupcakes? Ariana Grande has lots of cupcakes.

And, I mean, sure, you were born on one day, but you are unique!  Your birthday celebration should last for at least seven days!  Here are some ideas to keep the celebration going all week long!

  1. Enjoy Sunday brunch with your friends.20170319_124043
  2. Eat cake and ice cream with your family to conquer Monday.

  3. On Tuesday, get a free drink at Starbucks.20170321_160504
  4. Eat free fruit from Sheetz with your lunch on Wednesday.20170321_153444
  5. Thursday is for a long supper with your closest, dearest friend.  (We always stay at Chick-fil-a for several hours because we talk so much.  In fact, we were so busy talking that I forgot to capture a picture for the blog.)20170323_195454.jpg
  6. On Friday, grab some more birthday freebies and join a casual volleyball tournament (or a whatever your favorite sport might be).

  7. Finish out the week with a relaxing swim and a birthday present (green tea) from the YWCA.20170325_084411.jpg
Top Ten Tuesday: World Statistics Day

Top Ten Tuesday: World Statistics Day

Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences are a common topic in my education courses.  Numerous times, I have taken online tests to discover my intelligence.  The only thing consistent about my results is that they are not consistent.  Sometimes I am musical, humming and tapping my fingers while sitting in class.  At other times, I am visual, choosing to only look at the “image” results of a Google search.  Yet, I tend to be kinesthetic; I almost always pace or stand when I study.  Nonetheless, we all know that I am intrapersonal, choosing to sit silently in a coffee shop and type blog posts while other college students debate around me.  Occasionally, I am a logical/mathematical learner; I like to group things in sets of ten and examine how percentages relate to each other.

Perhaps my conflicting intelligences are the reason I could never decide on a single topic for this blog.

In honor of World Statistics Day, here are ten random statistics about my “9 lives.”

  1. I have been to 22 of our nation’s states (My Adventurous Life).

    Poor Kentucky…
  2. I took, on average, over 400 pictures a day in June 2015 (My Artsy Life).picture
  3. Over half (about 57%) of my pumps are Fergalicious brand (My Fashionable Life).

I have this shoe in 3 different colors.
  4. I use Walmart’s Savings Catcher after 100% of my visits to Walmart (My Frugal Life).walmart
  5. I eat oatmeal approximately 9 out of 10 days and sometimes more than once a day (My Healthy Life).oatmeal
  6. The thing I lose most often is sleep.  Patience is second on the list (My Organized Life).sleep
  7. I am among the 23% of full-time undergrad students under the age of 24 who work 20 hours or more a week (My Scholarly Life). 670px-Make-a-Traditional-Greek-Frappe-Step-6
  8. According to Facebook, I have 565 friends (My Social Life).

I wonder how many of those people I actually talk to…
  9. My relationship with God has nothing to do with the number of times I pray, go to church, or read my Bible (My Spiritual Life)numbersdontmatter
  10. I can only complete 90% of this top ten list.9-10
Closing Comraderies: June {Top Ten Tuesday}

Closing Comraderies: June {Top Ten Tuesday}

After a few months on the road, I will be home in less than a week!  For me, that means spending time with family and sleeping in my own room.  For you, that means the end of pre-scheduled posts.

Since today is the last day of June, it is time for another Closing Comraderies post.  However, I decided to do something a little different this month.  Below are ten of my favorite blogs (some of these have been comrades before, but they still deserve to be on the list).  Although I do not necessarily agree with everything that some of these blogs promote, I regularly frequent them and am inspired by their posts.  I hope you enjoy their pages as well!

My Ten Favorite Blogs

1. Refashionista

Refashionista is one of the first blogs I ever began following.  When I first found Jillian, I spent hours looking through her hundreds of refashions.  Here’s a fun fact:  before I had my own blog, I was featured on Refashionista!

2. What I Wore 2day

No one in the world dresses quite like Kasmira.  I admire her eccentric pairings and bold pattern mixes.  I will never pull off an outfit like she can!

3. The Oatmeal Artist

It was love at first bite when I tried Erin’s Orange Dreamsicle Overnight Oatmeal.  The rest is history.

4. Blogilates

I consider Cassey my personal trainer.  She posts new Pilates videos every Monday, and she regularly posts nutrition videos as well.  Unlike many online fitness instructors, Cassey is real and actually lives like a human.

5. North Western Images

Andy takes such gorgeous photos!  Every shot that he posts makes me want to pack up and travel to the North West.

6. Chocolate Covered Katie

Even though I don’t eat chocolate, I love looking through Katie’s gorgeous recipes.  In fact, I use her Voluminous Oatmeal Trick regularly during the school year.

7. Freckle Me Silly

With a balanced mix of humor and seriousness, Briana’s blog is sure to brighten your day.

8. Home-Made

If you are looking for simple, inexpensive DIY projects, this blog is perfect for you!

9. Eat, Pray, Work it Out

This recent college graduate simply posts about her day-to-day life.  The blog may be modest, but it is not mundane!

10. Laura Beth Eason

Like me, Laura posts about a little bit of everything.  One of the best lines I have read on her blog said, “If God is calling you to do something, then he already knows you are fully capable of doing it!”

I hope you enjoy visiting these blogs!  See you soon 🙂

Silver Dollar Sweet Potato Cakes

Silver Dollar Sweet Potato Cakes

Last Saturday, I hopped a plane and left my life in North Carolina.  My DSLR, my laptop, and my favorite stuffed animal are all a thousand miles away, and I am engaging on a new adventure.  While I will miss my family, friends, cooking, and everything else about North Carolina, I am beyond excited for everything that this summer holds.

Because I will only have a few free hours a week, I am not even going to attempt to write new blog posts.  Don’t worry though; I have scheduled quite a few posts to appear while I am gone.  I cannot wait to tell you all about my summer, but until then, keep reading my posts and leaving comments (I will respond when I get back home).

Enjoy your summer!
