If you are only here for the recipe, you can find it below the next picture. If you want to read about how I went a little mint crazy last fall, keep scrolling!
- 1 cup milk

- 1/2 scoop protein powder (optional)
- 2 large handfuls of spinach (for the green color, optional)
November is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month
Have you seen the crazy milkshakes that are available at restaurants like Burger Batch in downtown Winston Salem?
July 26 is National Coffee Milkshake Day
My favorite thing about working at a coffee shop in college was making turtle frappes. I enjoyed decorating the clear cups with chocolate and caramel sauce and squirting mountains of whipped cream on top.
June 23 is National Pink Day!
Last summer, I fell in love with smoothie bowls. Every Saturday as soon we we were released from media and cleaning duties, my camp compadre drove us to Nekter Juice Bar for acai bowls piled high with strawberries, granola, and bananas. She always purchased a berry-laden bowl, but I sampled every option.
Every Saturday I share three simple things that brought me happiness during the week. These posts may grow or evolve as time passes. Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section!
1. I finally got a new laptop.
There’s a story here, but I will give you the short version. Twice I ordered a computer directly from the manufacturer. Twice the manufacturer cancelled my order. I learned my lesson by the third try, and I ordered a similar laptop from a well- known retailer. The laptop arrived 4 days later.
2. Breakfast smoothies
I make 2-3 breakfast smoothies (like this one) at a time and keep them in the freezer. In the morning, all I have to do is set the smoothie on the counter before I get dressed. Within 45 minutes, it is ready to enjoy. In my life, smoothies are generally a warm-weather food, so oatmeal will probably reappear soon.
3. The footbridge at Old Salem
I know it’s a little early, but you have to appreciate the simple beauty of Moravian stars at Christmas!
I was originally going to save this recipe for July, and then I learned a few very important facts:
The first bowl of overnight oatmeal I ever made was The Oatmeal Artist’s orange dreamsicle overnight oats. I fell in love instantly. It was like my mouth had found an old friend.
